Default D5 16k Service

Just got the D5 back after taking it in for a it's 15/16k (miles) service. I did have them do an oil change at 7k miles as well, as I don't trust these super long oil changes (especially on break in periods).

Had them do a couple of warranty items as well. They fixed the hood latch issue by replacing the cable and adjusting things. They fixed the compartment behind the AC vents by lubing and adjusting the latch, doesn't stick anymore. For occasional errors on the lane warning and reduced traction they updated software and calibrated sensors on mirrors (will see if that resolves it). They couldn't locate the rattle in the rear seat (though to be honest I have not heard it in a while), though the service writer said it is a "characteristic" of the D5. They also checked the one rear axle and said it is fine, it did look like it may be starting to sweat something at the outer boot (but may just be road/mud crap from earlier in the year).

Wife is happy to have it back as it was in the shop for 2 days. I drove a Evoque R Dynamic as loaner, seemed peppy but very unrefined with some bad lag at times; guess the MHEV is not so great with small turbo engine.

I also asked if they can recalibrate for different tire diameter in the future and service writer said no go, not allowed by JLR apparently. At least they got the 2 major warranty items that was the biggest pain.

Just did mine as well. Had a small coolant leak fixed and did their full recommended service which included Oil,wiper blades, cabin filters, fuel system clean, multi clean engine, A/C odor treatment, Engine treatment and tire rotation. Honestly don't know what half of those are but the total came up to $910. Looks like the oil change labor was $449.44 plus the oil and filter at $110. The rest was parts, $40 in shop supplies and Tax. Pretty steep.

Yep, mine was over 900 as well with the tire rotation. But things are more pricey in this part of the country.
My service didn’t even have a lof of the extras you mentioned.

Wow. Most carmakers have the first couple of services free and I still don't even use them. Sounds like a lot of upselling going on; do you they give you a mean look when you tell them "no, thank you" on something? GM scaled back their OCI's with their OLM's so as you can't get much more than 7,500 miles out of your oil before the OLM says you need to change it.

Standard service. No upselling of anything extra. Needed front rotors and pads at 16k.

Dealer here charges $170 to fill DEF. i do it myself will Audi fluid. Costs $40.

Ok...
So a standard service plus rotors and pads (which are suspiciously expensive I know).

Just wait for the 32k service. Just got mine back, luckily the first owner had prepaid service through 48k miles. But now I need new rear rotors and pads which runs $1200, which is the last time i have land rover do my brakes. My Mercedes sl550 and Porsche Boxster did not run that high for brakes.

That sounds like a lot of questionable items. Our 16k was around $400. AC odor treatment? Engine treatment? Fuel system 'clean'? Wiper blades? I even question tire rotation as we don't see much differential wear on ours.

16k is early for brakes. My old LR4 used to eat them. But we have 26k on our Disco and brakes still have plenty of meat left

As for $3600 for a service - wow!

Brakes are always expensive at dealer. If you can diy it saves a fortune and is very easy. Else buy the pads and rotors you want and have a Indy do it for a fraction of the cost.
