I have a 2020 Disco 5 Landmark.
I was finally able to find the source of the leak in my car. It was the sunroof's drain tube in the back of the car, at the location where it plugs into the side of the car (see images below).. I need to come up with some sort of a fix or order a replacement.
Has anyone dealt with such scenario? any ideas?
If I need to order a replacement, can anyone point me to the right link, I was not able to find a similar one to what I have.
Thanks!
Seems like there are at least 2 things going on here:
1. The drain tubes get clogged. This has been going on with LR since at least my 1995 Disco (with its 2 fragile sunroofs - was that the first LR where the sunroof wasn't "unbolt roof panel" or "furl canvas roof"?). For some reason RR had this engineered better, or maybe it never rained much in Chelsea? As noted, soap or flex pipe-cleaner or wire unclogs that.
2. What I assumed OP was showing was a leak from outside to inside at the grommet where drain tube passes outside passenger compartment. Now I'm not a marine engineer but that grommet and its seal washer doesn't look like it could hold back much more than a puddle in the parking lot at Sainsbury's, let alone wading 35" in piranha-infested waters in the Orinoco. What sort of water do you think is coming in - is it from outside vehicle (I assume that's where the drain tube is leading, to the outside) or is it from the drain tube itself? If the former, it seems like good permanent marine caulk is the obvious solution here - I don't see any component damaged in the photos, just maybe some marginal design uncharacteristic of Solihull's Finest.
Or do we have 3. maybe water from sunroof channels is running down the *outside* of the drain tube because the inside of drain tube is clogged? That seems unlikely but maybe.
I was finally able to fix the leak in my Disco 5. I'm sharing what I did in case someone else encounters the same issue.
In my case, the source of the leak was the end piece of the sunroof drain tube, the part that plugs into the side of the car. This rubber piece was deformed (see image below), I'm guessing caused by the excessive Florida heat.
Our Disco5 has electrical issues shutting the car down, isolated to the fuel system I believe. When it's wet out the problem is more prevalent, so thinking water may be the issue with some circuitry.
1- Open the side panel in the cargo area (image 1). I did not need to completely remove the panel, I simply opened the right side which basically snaps out.
Remove the air ventilation piece (image 2), it is held by few screws. The fitting is located behind it.
