Default Extended Warranty

I am in no way associated with any company just wanted to give my current experience so far. Sorry for the formatting I was fiddling with this post during several conference calls lol. I had been doing some digging on info and couldn't really find much so just wanted to share everything.

I did a bunch of digging and it's pretty hard to find an extended warranty company. One that had many reviews and positive ratings through review sites was Liberty Bell Auto Protect. My Discovery 5 is a 2017 TD6 with I think all the bells and whistles. It's sticker was $83.6k. I bought it with about 6800 miles on it from a dealer. It's been in the shop for a couple software updates, a failed O2 sensor, a leaking windshield, and what turned out to be a bent skid plate because I did things in it most wouldn't lol. I had a really bad experience with Land Rover the other day. Ultimately they wouldn't warrant a part that should have been and they wanted me to spend $2200 to have it fixed there. I declined so they then charged me $500 to get my keys back. I disputed the charge on my CC before I even walked out.

Anyway I wanted to look at other options and found Liberty Bell Auto. They shot me three quotes:

The years and mileage is above whatever you currently have. I went ahead and just did the 7yr/150k mileage. Paperwork says I'm good until 2028 or 188k miles. It is transferable so hopefully whenever I do sell the cost is just added on top. You can take it to any auto-shop that is ASE certified and accepts credit card. I asked a few other specifics about spending cap vs vehicle value and they said there's none of that. The above package is their Platinum Prime and includes no deductible. I'm digging through the contract and it's pretty extensive I don't see any red flags here. The coverage is pretty well spelled out and includes quite a lot. Everything basically covered by the manufacturers warranty except for the leaking windshield I had. They tell me they use OEM parts.

Specifics of coverage:

The parts and components listed below are covered under this VEHICLE SERVICE PROGRAM: BASED ON THE PROGRAM PURCHASED.

Am I reading that right? 7 more years and 140k more miles for $2500

If so, I would suggest there is no way that can be feasible. With the price of LR parts that is one or two modest repairs over a 7 year period (ie on a car that could be 10+ years old towards the end)

Not doubting that's what they told you. I just can't believe they will be able to honor that

I’m reading the 7 as 3 additional over the factory 4…

Based on the list you posted the 1-16 pack seems worth it and anything less isn’t.
I see it only covers the rear facing camera, not the side view ones or front.
I also don’t see anything about radar cruise.
I see nothing about the stereo system.
I see nothing about air lines etc for air ride suspension.
same goes for the body control module.
Same goes for rear wiper motor.
Same goes for sunroof blind.
Same goes for the electric steering reach/rake adjust.
Same goes for electric seats/heated/cooled, inc the folding.

And most importantly it says seepage etc is considered normal and not covered so they are only going to cover a failure of your something, not the fact it is simply leaking. Maybe that’s normal for factory extended warranty too, I don’t know.

The more times I read the list the more things I find that aren’t listed. Again, maybe it’s the same for the factory extended warranty?

The 3 quotes are for 3/5/7 years and the corresponding miles.
But are they for Platinum or Patinum Plus, Prime, Wrap?
Platinum Wrap does not cover engine or transmission!

The cameras, ride suspension, and steering are all covered. It's in there. I asked most these questions and have it in writing. THey give a statement of what isn't covered.

I can give you my guys info but really I just did it through the website and was contacted. After that it’s always the same person you deal with.

Let me reiterate I haven’t had to use it yet but a lot of online reviews gave them a thumbs up

Is there another warranty company folks here would recommend?
I have quotes from Zurich and Fidelity so far. Fidelity quote I got from the LR dealer was outrageous.

Happy to share numbers if it helps.

Don't forget the dealer marks up third party warranties. A lot. So you are better going straight to the warranty company.
