I have an 18 SE with halogen headlights. I’ve recently noticed the clear plastic lenses on the headlights are getting the typical hazing and fogging, but worse is they seem to be getting some spider web type cracks that are only visible from certain angles.
I’ve previously tried sone of the LED bulb conversions but all were too large to fit into the halogen housing, so had to give up on that project.
wondering now if I have to get new lenses could I convert to factory LED headlights? The wiring has the h4 plugs at the housings, so I would at least need a portion of the wiring harness, but wondering if anyone has ventured down this road to see if there is a reasonable way.
When my Disco come with factory LED, over the years I converted 3 Mercedes SUV from halogen to LED.
Drop in bulbs cost $29 per pair and I was comparing beams on my garage doors. You can figure out which one is wchich.
The only issue is, that on car who doesn't have 2nd battery for headlights backup, during ECO restart the LED, being more sensitive to voltage can blink. Not a big deal for me.
Thanks for that link. I must have missed that in search results thinking it was a different model or something.
That thread was me, the ebay adapter worked perfectly! Finding a set of the LED assemblies that aren't too badly damaged is a not so fun game, and bumper removal isn't fun either, but it was well worth it!
