Default Interior Plastic restoration : How?

Hi,

Our 2017 Disco 5 seems to not appreciate my wife's rings and shoes. There are on the interior front door lower panel and the central console (on the side) many scratches. To make things worse, the Disco 5 interior plastic is utterly crap and you could scratch it with your fingernail making some "white" marks pretty much everywhere your nails go.

Anyway, I was wondering the following

1. Is the heat gun approach to fix this is a good idea? And if yes, anyone has a recommendation?
2. Has anyone have a guide on how to remove certain panels? such as this one? Side Trim Panel - Land-Rover (LR082564)

Thanks in advance.

If you have a look on the Land Rover Discovery 5 Owners Group on Facebook you will find lots of manual sections in the files section, or sign up for Topix access for an hour and download what you need.

What's causing the scratching? We've had ours 3 years and very heavy family use and the interior still looks great. I thought it was very resilient. Is there a sharp diamond ring - that will scratch almost anything...

Just your finger nails can cause scratches, and in my case my wife nails, her rings and shoes, a nightmare. The LR plastic is utterly crap in the way that it is surface colored and not mixt in. Here you are an example (not mine), that show the problem in a large scale, I also happen to have the same problem. Anyway, My 3rd LR, P38 HSE, Disco4 SE and this Disco5 HSE Luxury and of the 3 the plastics on the D5 are the worse.

Anyway, this morning both the central console, the passenger door and the plastic panel around the seat has been fixed, I found for 30,000 Yen (225€ / £195) an interior restoration specialist that made all panels brand new.
