Default Keyless Entry Not Working

2018 HSE Si6
I recently developed an issue where the unlock function of the keyless entry system is not working.
When I approach the vehicle with the key in my pocket, I am unable to get the doors to unlock.
Even if I hold the key next to the door handle, it will not unlock.
The vehicle only unlocks when I press the unlock button on the key fob.
The vehicle starts fine and when I exit the vehicle, the doors lock as they should when I touch the door handle.
I just can’t get the unlock function to work.
Any thoughts?

Happened to me this weekend.
I could unlock with the buttons but not by the door handle. Later it worked, then later still it did not.
To start the car I had to hold it under the steering column (where the car sends wireless power like a smartphone charger mat) to give the fob enough juice to deactivate the immobilizer.
The battery in the remote is too weak.
I replaced the battery (CR2032) and it now works again.
I only realized as my wife’s fob wouldn’t even lock/unlock with the buttons whereas mine would so I realized the problem was the fobs not the car.
Replaced both batteries following a YouTube video.

I replaced the CR2032 battery in both remotes with no improvement.
Remote works as designed just fine for starting the car and locking the car (by touching the door handle), but the unlock function stopped working for some reason.
I'm a big fan of LR and of this Disco but the gremlins can be downright maddening at times.

Try disconnecting the main battery for 30s and reconnect it. That reboots the modules and could fix it

There was a run of 2018's that the unit under the dash was cracked during manufacturing and the keyless entry will fail. Mine (2018 HSE Lux TD6) failed two days after purchase. Its a known issue and the dealer should replace without issue. Good luck!

I can start the car and it says Check Ok but when it comes to locking/unlocking the car and the trunk, nothing works. I replaced the C2032 battery as well and there's no success. Not sure what's going on.

Check that new battery voltage with a voltmeter. Sometimes even new ones are no good.

this is indeed a frustrating problem on my 2019 Discovery TD6. mine works about 1 in 10 tries. i have replaced key fob batteries disconnected the main battery but nothing seems to help. it is less frustrating than the intermittent carplay connection because it is a convenience function not as necessary at wanting a reliable carplay connection. Even more frustrating is the dealer has no answers to these issues other than suggesting you should buy a new Land Rover because they are "better". LOL

My 2018 model will not lock with touching the exterior handle for a change.
When I bought it over a year ago, it would lock 1 out of 10 times, but no more.
I bought Maxi Ecu scanner for it and it shows code for "rear door". I assume it is hatch, that is having a problem, but this is not urgent problem for me, so still on my TD list.
Bottom line, Maxi Ecu is not very expensive scanner and can troubleshoot such issues and check adaptations.
