Thx.
Got the Disco back and I'm sad to say the laggy acceleration was not fixed.

Hey guys- I have also had zero luck with a fix. I talked with our service guys (who are awesome) and one of their suggestions was just always downshift to first using the paddleshifters. It works somewhat- but then you're stuck with a high revving engine while you're turning...

I've had enough weirdness with the accelerator and some glitchy electronics- so I just sold it and got back into an LR4. I sold my 2011 HSE Lux for the D5 Lux- and I've been a little sad ever since- some of the electronics are cool; but the LR4 represents what Land Rover has done well without overcomplicating things.

Anyway- best of luck figuring this one out...

Did you do it? I was at the dealer today and they have a 16 LR 4 coming in with less than 20,000 miles. Waiting on the priceing...I'll see what they come up with.
Mine was a Lux ..70,000 plus sticker, I have 7,000 miles on it, and from what I can see the book is 60,000. Thinking if they said my trade and we will give you 10K cash I might do it. I might be dreaming though.

I did it on Tuesday. There was just enough about the D5 that was getting under my skin and I was having a hard time reconciling spending that much money on a vehicle and getting frustrated every time I sat down in it. I had 6,400 miles on my 18 Lux; they gave me 58 for mine- which was a little more than I was expecting... but still felt terrible that I was taking a bath on it. I found a 16 with low range and tow package- and it was even in the colors I wanted. At the end of the day, the LR4 (for me anyway) embodies what Land Rover does well. And doesn't overcomplicate things with displays and fancy bits. It feels good to be back in the LR4.

Good luck with your thought process- it would be great if they give you cash....

Ahh, the joys of leasing. My wife doesn't really complain about it, and she's already in month 6 of a 33 month lease so for us this problem will solve itself.

Got mine back from service. The writer setup a test drive with the shop foreman for me. I demonstrated the lag and he responded that it feels and sounds just like an issue that the LR3 platform was having in 2014-2015. He said as a side note to get only a 15+ LR3 since they fixed the lag. The lag was introduced as a fix to a sort of thump when slowing to a stop. Customers complained about the thump and the lag came as a result. LR fixed it eventually.

I’ve had a couple 17-18 d5 loaners and the 17 seem to not be nearly as bad. Wonder if we got software updates along the line that increased the lag,

Our D5 is again in the shop (totaling now >30 days since we purchased it in 2018). We have a 2017 loaner and indeed, the throttle response of the '17 D5 is way better than on ours! => I asked to update all modules on ours and we'll see if it helps...

Price on the 16 LR4 is 47,000. It looks to be loaded, and has 20,000 miles but alas...the color is white which I am not sure I like. My last 7 vehicles have been black and I am partial to that. After thinking a bit..my #'s have changed...I have a hard time losing 6-7K on mine, I picked it up mid Oct. so I am going to look at it but I don't think I would do it for less than my trade and 15K back to me.....

Very true. I got mine in Oct as well- I was super excited for it; but coming from a 2011 LR4 (which I shouldn't have sold...), I had high expectations. We live in a small town and even in our small town, there have been more than a few instances that I expected the D5 to respond when I pushed on the accelerator.... I just got to the point where every time I got in the truck I was disappointed or frustrated. And I really, really missed the LR4 body style (and the V8 engine). I lost a ton of money and it hurt- but in the end, I was able to find a 2016 with low miles and low range/tow package in the color I was hoping for... and I really, really like it. Seems like this year (and maybe next?) a lot of the 3 year lease vehicles are coming back into the market- and I agree with you on white. I don't know that I could do white either. Good luck!

Thanks for your note....It gives me some food for thought. Mine is a Lux but has a few add on's which brought the sticker to $74,000. They found a $3,000 rebate so I paid about $71,000 Soooo...If I REALLY like the LR4 which I haven't driven or looked at yet....I guess I would go 15K and my car....
I'll post as I go thru the process.
