I finally got to use my tow rope that I bought to tow myself out but didn't need when I had an LR4 in 2019 😂 some guy was in an old GMC Acadia with summer tires. He could not make it up the hill but I helped him get a little bit of momentum to clear the ice. Some guy came up to me afterwards and said that was amazing your vehicle could pull him - did you have snow stud tires? (I'll take the compliment, but it wasn't that crazy 😁
We had some awesome snow on Lookout Mountain, outside of Chattanooga, this weekend! Incredible sledding weather.
Seeing this makes me feel better about upgrading at some point to a Disco 5 from my LR3. By the time I get around to that upgrade the LR4's might be a bit older than what I'd like, and having enjoyed a Disco while the Disco Sport was in the shop was an experience.
We went through Chatanooga a couple times, stayed at the Chatanooga Choo Choo, visited the distillery, and took a drive up Lookout mountain. Heck of a view! No snow on that trip though.

I like the look of your wheels. Are those JLR originals? From your other pics it looks like 20" which I think look so much better than the 22s that I keep running into when searching for a Disco online. I have a Defender but keep looking at the Discovery... Seeing too many Defenders on the road and there's something seductive about the Disco especially when I see pics of it with lift rods and off road tires

That's awesome! Yes, the views are special. I also love it in the summer because it is 8 to 10° cooler than the valley. 😎

I think they're OEM. I haven't looked for markings before. 20"
I think they look great with the Fuji white paint!

Moved into a D5 from LR3 middle of last year. Took it off road for the first time and was very impressed (but not surprised) with capability right out of the box. Just have a set of Defender takeoff wheel/tires. The articulation was similar and honestly felt smoother both with air suspension function and traction control. Like the LR3/4 platform, it’ll get you a ton of places with a decent set of tires. Certainly doesn’t have quite the classic look but it’s a great value proposition (especially compared to a 110/130)
II'm starting to see 2017's down in the $17K range on Carvana. Looks like the resale on these is not holding up as well as a Defender, or LR's in general. Good for the future upgrade!
I couldn't live with the defender's right opening swing out tailgate, makes no sense for the LH drive market. I imagine it's not possible to open the gate with a trailer attached. At least all the way.
I get annoyed with our FJ cruisers tailgate too and it opens to the left. It seems to always be in the way and care has to be taken when there are objects or cars behind the car.
