2018 Si6 Lux. Just recently noticed a hum that sounds like engine over-rev as if you're driving in a lower gear and not upshifting. Shifting up or RPM speed does not affect it, but it seems to increase with vehicle speed.
It feels like it's coming from the engine bay but now i'm wondering if it's front wheel bearings gone bad.. Is there anything else that would be tied to vehicle speed and not RPMs?
Initially i was worried that it's related to some transmission component till i realized the car seems to be shifting normally.
As a side note, I've noticed there is a noticeable delay for the Reverse or Drive gear to engage if you do a cold start and shift into gear before letting the car/oil warm up a minute. Is that normal? I've done the 4x4 service but not the main trans fluid change. Car is at 104K miles and shifts very smoothly across all gears otherwise.
Taking it into the dealership next week but figured i'd ask if any ideas.. Many thanks!
The cold start delay going into reverse is normal for me however it has never had delay going into drive from a cold start but I rarely have that scenario. My viscous fan clutch does kick in occasionally but usually when the weather is about 105° or hotter. You could be experiencing the same thing I am at 90,000 mi currently for me, the motor mounts are shot.
Update: They've diagnosed the hum as failed front wheel bearing/hub. warranty will cover that, however, unfortunately they also see a crack in the suspension knuckle behind that same front wheel which warranty will not cover. They don't want to press a new hub/bearing into a cracked knuckle otherwise i would have had an indy shop handle the knuckle and not pay dealership prices to do it.
Warranty will pay around $1K for the bearing and i'm stuck paying around $2K for the knuckle. Trying to see if they'll help me a bit on my portion or do I take it to my indy shop and do the whole knuckle + hub together for less..

Contact Land Rover. They should replace that knuckle for free - demand it. In fact, both are probably failing. In the UK this has been an issue that I believe now is under a recall. LR Time has this happen and got LR Germany to do the replacements for free, but it took some calm complaining for them to acknowledge the issue even though in the UK it is a recall.
edit: I will add that if anyone other than LR has touched that knuckle bolt, they will do all they can to avoid repairing at their cost it seems.

What kind of warranty pays for a wheel bearing and not a major structural component failure of the truck?
