Low Profile Cross Bars
Interesting discussion as I think the factory bars are horribly tall, having seen a new D5 with them last week.
I don't put anything up top unless needed for ski trips, as I hate the wind noise with any rack and I'm not looking to make a statement with a Land Rover. No rack is my MO, except for the weekend needed.

Yeah, they might be a bust. But they also might not.
I figure for the money I'd give it a try. If they're weak I'll return.
For me they're light duty and part time anyway until I get the Slimline rack.
You're right - give them a try. If they work - you saved good money.
The Rhino Rack bars look great.
Been eyeing these too, but a bit expensive: https://www.rackoutfitters.com/thule...iscovery-2017/

Thule makes most of the European OEM racks. If you look at the OEM they look just like theses Edge bars. I have used on other cars but not the D5. Not low profile and a little noisier than the Rhinos. Thule makes excellent stuff. However, I think I have been converted to RhinoRack - as long as they have the same mount/rack that Thule would have.
Also, for the $395, the Rhinos come with locks.
The reason they appear to fit strangely is because the bars are adjustable and the plastic end caps override the bar to allow for this. I plan on trimming the caps to the appropriate length now that I have it sorted.
I'd still consider these light duty (stated rating is 150lbs, but I won't be testing that) but for less than half the cost of OEM I'll take it.
Bringing this one back to life. Has anyone installed the Thule Aeroblade Edge?
