Default Main Screen Split Display

Is there a setting to show a split touch screen? For example, half navigation map and half audio/media?

You can do that in Android Auto on a 2018. Half nav and half audio (or one of the other apps)

I thought that was only for the use of an android device? Can this be done for the vehicle's built-in navigation?

CarPlay supports nav and music. If you want the LR system to show nav and music you can have nav on the main dash and audio on the touchscreen.

Yes. But the main dash screen only shows direction arrows, not the map. Correct? And it automatically switches to the nav arrow when a turn is coming up.

I believe one of the main dashscreen options is full-map display.

The downside to Android Auto (and I assume Car Play) is that the turn-by turn directions do not show up in the driver information screen. It's the main reason I don't use AA and just keep the maps updated and a $10 T-Mobile hotspot SIM installed in the armrest slot. My wife always keeps the media screen active on the infotainment display and I have the driver screen set to 2 dials and navigation in the middle. That way I have a moving map with directions and turn-by-turn without having to look at the infotainment screen.

This is with the full LCD instrument cluster. I'm not sure if it works with the 2017 with physical dials.

My 17 show the nav in the center driver display, its digital. The outer displays are analog.
