i’m in a dilemma with my window switch panel in my 2018 Discovery.
I had a steam cleaning two days ago after a week of overlanding trip that made the interior full of dust and sand.
after that steam cleaning, the switches worked normally, the second day the battery got fully drained. I jumped started it, and everything is back to normal but the switch panels on the driver side, and two rear doors are not working!
i’ve checked the fuses, i found no issues, then i opened the door trim, nothing seem wrong, disconnected the connection to the panel and reconnected it, the same issues is still happening.
The weird thing is the issue is not only on the driver door, the rear window switches don’t work too, the only one is the passenger door. the switch panel shows ambient light on 2 buttons only (check the picture).
• checked faults and found (B1087-87 LIN bus A - Missing message)
• removed the driver’s door trim, opened all switches and actually found corrosion inside the window switch panel.
• tried to clean it but didn’t help.
• found an aftermarket market part, partially worked it kept losing voltage. But it confirmed the root cause.
• replaced the switch panel with a genuine one, and fixed it.
• rear doors window switches still not working.
• cleared the faults and the rear switches are back to normal.
So apparently one corroded switch can create multiple issues even on other doors due to LIN bus.
