First time I've used this shop and not too many places here work on LR's (esp. diesels) outside of the dealer. But I definitely need to keep looking.
That's what I paid at the dealer. I went with an OEM battery because the original battery lasted 5 1/2 years, which is unheard of in Las Vegas, where it's not a proper summer unless July highs reach 115 degrees F. The most that can be expected from any battery here is 3 years, no matter how much it costs.

Firstly, Land Rover don't make batteries. If you look on the sticker you will see the brand. I believe my original one was an Exide. There are many very high quality manufacturers of AGM batteries - there is nothing 'special' about them

Even if you want an "OEM" one skfh the Land Rover logo it's about $300 bought online. Else $200-250 for a high quality with 3 year warranty

If you buy at AutoZone or similar they will even help you fit it - for free...

I hate to say it but at $650 you were taken for a ride.... That's prob not far off what the dealer charges. Because it's the dealer and they can as some customers are price insensitive. But - for an Indy shop that's just criminal...

I think you need to find a different shop

And post on where when you have maintenance needs for some advice from other LR owners and a price check too.

Like I said, first time using them. They do a lot of high end post warranty service. Their bay is full of Porsches, LR's, etc.
They did a good job, price aside, and warrant their work/parts for 5yrs/50k miles. They also returned the old EGR to me.

Live and learn.
