Default Phone Mount?

Can anyone recommend a phone mount for the Disco 5? While there are tons of little spaces to store my phone, I want to be able to safely see the screen. Looks like the best mounting location could be on either the vertical or horizontal trim between the driver's seat and center console?

I have been considering a Proclip pedestal mount on the left side of the passenger seat to mount either a 8" or 9.5" tablet, would also work for the phone without blocking the AC vent. Just don't know if I can commit myself to drill into the plastic divider.

Proclip makes good stuff. I have not used it in my D5 because I do not it want it high on the vent and do not want to drill for the pedestal.

I had my phone in the cup holder and the salesman got in my car and put my phone in the phone slot bewteen the holders. And I thought I was OCD...

the slot between the cupholders is a great idea, just a little small for my note 9.

The slot is even too small for my iPhone with a thin case on it. Besides, it's very difficult to see when it sits there as it faces the back seat and not the driver.

My iPhone X with case (non slim) fits fine. I would imagine the 6+" phones struggle to fit. Even considered drilling and gluing a lightning USB port in the bottom of the slot since there is a charging port below.

But as others mentioned, you can't see the phone well so it really doesn't matter.

I sat in the car looking for the ideal spot to put the phone so it can be visible and I really don't know what would be best. Right now, I'm leaning toward finding a mount to put on the vertical trim on the passenger side. Scosche appears to make something that could work.

Something like this: https://www.scosche.com/magnetic-mount-usb-charger might work for just a phone, I have tried something similar in the past and never been happy with the ability for it to stay in place.
