Rear roof access ladder?

The rhino rack one detaches when not in use and stores in the car or on the rack. I like it because I would rather come at the roof top cargo from the side and not the back. You can switch sides as well. This would be very valuable when securing a kayak or two.

Something like this slam-latch step http://a.co/d/hvipXrX seems more practical than a ladder on the side. You can move it to either side and just stow it away when not needed.

I have a rack for mine and getting the rack on, then getting suitcases on the rack once it is on is tricky. Best way I've found so far (because I don't want to carry around a stool) is to stand on the rear tires for the rear or open the front doors and stand there. Less than ideal and I have to balance as well as work.
I'll keep an eye on this thread.
<< Edit: Thanks to SoCalWiley for the suggested slam-latch step (http://a.co/d/hvipXrX), this looks like the simplest option, I know what I'm asking Santa for this year. >>
