Default Reliability???

I just bought a 2019 LR discovery 5 HSE lux TD6 and after seeing many vids on YouTube I'm getting scared about owning it. Can somebody who owns a similar one tell me about reliability.

If you already bought it, I'd say check the Youtube videos that show what it is capable of :-) . Here's a few:

Haters will hate........ Key to Rovers is maintenance IMO. All my Rovers have been rock solid. My D5 TD6 is a beast to be reckoned with.

Do your own maintenance. Oil change every 8K like clock work. With the correct oil. Ford Diesel, Ford oil.

I have a 2020 Discovery and it has been pretty reliable thus far. I did have an issue whereby the windshield had a very slow leak (started after about 25,000 miles) but that was a known issue and it was fixed under warranty. At the dealership that I go to in NJ, the service guys state that out of all of the Land Rover products, the Discovery is by far the most reliable. On my vehicle, there was a recall of the start up battery ground stud, but they took care of that recall when I got my windshield fixed. But other than the windshield issue, it has been very reliable.

So I should do my own Maintenance? I was planning on doing maintenance at a dealer.

It's up to you. Some members due their own and others go to the dealer for their maintenance. I am not very mechanical, so I get all of mine done at the dealership. I purchased the pre-paid maintenance plan (plus wear and tear--which covers wipers, brake pads and brake rotors) because the maintenance costs at the dealership are very expensive. Also, if you exclusively get your maintenance performed at the dealer, you shouldn't ever get challenged if you have a warranty issue.

Love mine!

My first Land Rover and the only issue I had was a software over the air issue back in November... Dealership flashed the newest software and I have had no issues since. Take it off road... you will not regret it! I typically do my own maintenance, however I have opted for my dealership to do it because I just do not want to hassle with the oil. Upgrades I will take on as a challenge.
