I was scrolling through Facebook earlier today and saw a post about the Discovery SVX that debuted back at the 2017 IAA. It was green-lit, with production commencing in early 2018, but that never happened. The Range Rover SV Coupe was also planned for production, but was cancelled at the same time. In fact, it was cancelled so close to production that JLR made an exclusive sales brochure for the SVX, which I've attached below.
The highlights:
- Powered by the legendary AJ133 Supercharged V8 in the P525 tune
- Unique 20" wheels wrapped in 32" 275/55R20 Goodyear Wrangler tires
- Rear-mounted winch
- Hydraulic anti-roll bars from the Supercharged RR & RRS made an appearance, but tuned for increased articulation
- SVX-specific interior trim w/ the pistol-grip shifter in place of the rotary shifter
- Rush Orange exterior accents
- Increased ground clearance, approach, breakover and departure angles
- Increased wading depth to 39.4"
- Unique SVX-specific roof-mounted light pods
Per my reputable sources within JLR, the SVX was cancelled to make way for the Defender, and its obvious that was the case. The Defender got the bigger 32" tires, and the Defender X has the same Rush Orange accents as the SVX. In fact the new Defender OCTA was originally supposed to be called the SVX, but after the "hose of brands" nonsense was implemented, they decided to change the name and move it further upmarket. The OCTA has the same features as the SVX - the winch, the 39.4" wading depth, and the active anti-roll bars have been replaced with the 6D Dynamics, which incudes a 48v hydraulically-linked dampers that make anti-roll bars obsolete.
I still think the Discovery SVX would've been amazing, but I fully understand why it was cancelled. It made more sense for these features to be on the Defender, and with SVX pricing said to be around $100k to start, I don't think it would've been a smash hit. Awesome? Yes. A sales success? Probably not.
Inside Discovery SVX, a Pistol Shifter adds to the overall enjoyment of the driving experience. Off-road, the Pistol Shifter enables quick and efficient forward and reverse engagement with a simple fore and aft movement. This allows the driver to better negotiate deformable surfaces such as deep snow, sand and mud.
Well duh LR, why not just give that to us out of the box. Rotary **** only makes you lot look like a bunch of baboons
Fun fact... You can change "EUCD-205 Racing Sub Brand" with the GAP tool to "SVX" and get some cool new gauges and terrain mode graphics showing the SVX Discovery. The rev limit range displayed is too high for the diesel though. SVX was gas supercharged.

interesting! Do you happen to have any photos of what it looks like?
Here are a couple shots of the instrument cluster. I can't seem to see the SVX vehicle graphics in the center. I'll have to try to remember what I did to make them show up. Don't mind the fogged DIM lens... I've got a replacement and haven't built up the motivation to replace it yet.
Wow, that's awesome! Thanks for sharing! I would've loved a 5.0 D5 with the hydraulic anti-roll bars. There's actually a guy in one of the facebook groups swapping a 5.0 from an RRS SVR into a D5 and he's got it up and running. Had to swap over the wiring harnesses and the dashboard so it everything would work. The car thinks its an SVR even though its a D5. Amazingly, he claims that just about everything has been plug-and-play.
