I wouldn’t pay for a tool to do it because if theirs can’t it’s unlikely another will...

That is what scares me. I'm ultimately going to want a tool that will register a new battery as well and I'm not even sure if the Launch X431's will do that, either. They say you have 60 days to return it so even for $400, I'm still not certain I will keep it. Foxwell just kept my $60 for the JLR module update even despite a written ticket that I have from them asking if their JLR module on my NT530 would work to reset the service interval and they were like "certainly!"

I don't have an active topix subscription but I did see when I was in there that there is a new recall coming out towards the end of April for the automatic high beams. I think it works great now and I wouldn't want the software update if I don't have to. Mine always seems to work really well and I can tell when it comes on and such. With this service interval reset issue though, I've definitely gathered that other D5's are having this same issue, as well. If this had anything to do with the oil dilution algorithm it would at least reset the interval for you and then go from there.

Not sure the battery reset is a real thing. I've changed mine in this and several other JLR cars and never had any issues with the BMS. Seems to work itself out...

I have the icarsoft LR2 which has decent LR code reading and a few other features like service lamp reset. Think it was only $150 or so

What's the high beam patch for? I use it a lot and love it on nighttime highway driving in the winter when it works perfectly. But find it irritating around town as it constantly 'flashes' other drivers by mistake.

Does your icarsoft LR2 work on your D5?

Details on the forthcoming recall were available at NHTSA.gov.

I have found myself wondering if my high beams were simply on or being controlled by the auto dip and beyond trying to figure it out by looking at the road illumination (not easy in brightly lit urban area) I couldn’t tell as the dash doesn’t really show it.
So I look forward to having this update as I don’t want to be the guy blinding other drivers.

Thanks. On the auto high beam I don't need that as it does correctly display the green headlight symbol with 'auto' on the dash when it's enabled.

On the iCarSoft, I can't confirm for sure as I've fortunately not had need for it on the new Disco yet (no issues in first 3 years). Ask the seller (they seem to respond quickly to compatibility questions on Amazon). It says it resets the BMS battery system but I've not tried that on my other cars when changing batteries

I got my recall for the auto high beams yesterday. The Auto icon in the lower right of the dash comes up in white now instead of being green, which I presume will turn green when the brights are on. The good thing as well is the recall firmware update to the DIC cluster fixed my maintenance reset issue as well, all the way out to 16,000 miles, in fact. The first time or two I did it it only went out to like 8,900 miles or something like that. I think the update is overall worthwhile for everyone to get and took me about as long to finish my cup of coffee.
