Default Step by Step How to Reset the Service Interval

I posted about this previously and now have the answer. In the event you work on your own vehicle, you may want to reset the service interval after an oil change. Below are the steps. They must be accomplished in rapid succession and I suggest you read through all the steps before starting. This is tested and it works for my 2018 D5 Td6.

1 - sit in the drivers seat with all the doors and hood closed
2 - push the ignition button once, no foot on the brake, we do not want to start the vehicle (called position 2)
3 - with the door still closed, pop the hood with the hood release. This will bind on the door a little, but can be accomplished - just pull it.
4 - open the driver door and stay in the vehicle
5 - hold (depress) the gas and brake pedal for 60 seconds
6 - check the display - it should have reset and you are good to go from another 8000 miles (usually resets in about 15 seconds)
7 - close the hood

Thanks, good info to have. Is the service interval just 8000 miles for the Td6?

So I had mine in the shop for saying service needed. Had to do with the software and even though reset it wouldn’t show it. LR has a new software update for the instrument cluster and interior computers. They flashed and updated the whole thing and now it’s working great.

Just a heads up if the reset doesnt work.

Service interval is 8000 miles. 16k miles is the fuel filter, oil change, and oil filter. I'd only suggest the reset after servicing. No need to mask a real problem.

I have never had a vehicle that had service inertvals between oil changes. What is done at this midpoint service?

Service interval is every 8000 miles. At the 16,000 mile service the fuel filter is also changed on the Td6 per my service department.

I’m seeing a lot of different service intervals but most say every 15000 or 16000 Miles. Where did you get the 8000 number from. Does your TD6 have the oil dilution issue?

Great info!
Do you mind also share if you used vacuum extractor or gravity?
Have been looking for a place to connect the vacuum tube.
