Sunroof Seal Leak - Causing electical issues
Been working with local LR service about fixing our 2024 P360. Had a bad, heavy rain storm in Sep 2025. Woke up the next day and Discovery would not start. No electrical. Towed to LR dealer. Issue was a leak in the sunroof seal (guess water will always find the weak point) that went down the headliner, down the door, and into the floor board that resulted in the failure of an key wiring harness that seems to power a lot of things.
Has anyone else had water leak issues with the sunroof? Our previous 2017 Discovery has a leak in the windshield, which was a known issue. Thought this would have been resolved by now.
Our LR service lead told us that the repairs will require new sunroof, sunroof seal, headliner, floor carpet, and a new wiring harness. Discovery has been at the dealer service shop since September. Going on over 4 months waiting on the key part - wiring harness - that is affected by some of the Land Rover shutdown that happened in 2025. Even though LR has provided a loaner, still not the same of driving our own car. Is over 4 months normal for repairs and issues getting parts? Love the car but, so far, dislike the length for repair time, if normal. Looking to send a letter to LR expressing my concerns and frustrations, not expecting anything but, as a customer, I feel that they need to know.

Don't know if it's normal, but I had a similar experience with my 2018 Disco HSE. Water ingress found it way to wiring and control modules wreaking all sorts of havoc. Dealer did similar repair to what you describe complete with new carpeting, insulation, etc. Total time was 97 days. They had me in a loaner the entire time. I get the sentiment about driving your own car...I had the same sentiment for a bit. I felt better about it when I realized that very few customers get a loaner at all...let alone for 97 days...and almost never a Land Rover loaner (typically whatever Enterprise has available at the time which would have been fine as well). Three months of not adding any mileage to my car was an additional bonus.
Thanks. It is nice, as a dealer for a luxury car, when maintenance is not the owner's fault, a loaner should be provided to minimize any inconvenience. I just want the car fixed right and hope no other issues for being sitting on the lot for over 4 months. I actually think it might be over 5 months by the time all repairs are made. I would have thought, knowing there have been water intrusion issues with the windshield and sunroof in previous year models, that improvements could have been found to minimze or resolve the leaking seal issues. I have been told the the Discovery is like equivalent to the Jeep Grand Cherokee for basic off road capabilities (but a more enjoyable, comfortable ride :-) ); therefore, I would think it would be a little more durable with water, which adds to some of the frustrations. Don't show a Discovery fording a stream and them my completing shuts down electrically from a leaking sunroof seal after rain storm. Crossing my fingers that the wiring harness is sent soon and the other repairs are completed soon, as I still love (wife more loves) the look, handling, and comfort of our Disco.
LR had a major network shutdown last year in September where the factory was shut down for a month or so maybe more, so it does seem like a lot of parts on newer cars are backlogged. So it seems like unfortunately you're just in a waiting game, I understand it's annoying but I really don't think there's anything anyone can do.
With the amount of time sitting and waiting for repairs, did you experience any other issues after the repairs were completed? My concern, slight fear, is after sitting at the dealer back lot (almost 5 months this week) waiting for the repairs to be completed, will there be something else not work.
