Exclamation Td6 after oil change - now dash pop-up says 1600 miles oil life?

Hi all,

I have a 2019 Td6 (Diesel) with 50k miles that is in excellent condition and well maintained.

Just had a local trusted mechanic change the oil with the official "oil kit:" from Atlantic British.

When I picked up the car the dash now says something to the effect of "Oil Life 1800 miles" and is counting down from 1800.

I thought the LR intervals were 7k between oil changes.

Did my mechanic perhaps reset this to 1600 miles using his equipment?

Or is the car trying to tell me something is up and this oil needs to be changed again way ahead of LR spec?

Happy to send any add'l details here to get to the bottom of this.

Thanks for reading.

Join the club. Mine now shows a permanent "Service Required". My attempts at a reset have been fruitless. Apparently a software update is required. I think there's a TSB for this.

I see... So If I had brought this to the dealer for the oil change they would have updated/resolved?

I think it depends upon the dealer. I took mine in or some unrelated work and they called to ask I I had serviced the vehicle - I said yes. They never updated the software. You should ask them to do it - that was my mistake; not asking.

Thank you for your response. I have an Autel pro-type scanner/tool and I'll see if it will let me reset it today.

I was concerned at first that the LR ECU was saying "sorry don't like this oil pls change sooner".

Let me know if it works. My son who is an auto-mechanic brought his scanner over and all it did was give instruction on how to do the reset (open the hood, crack the door etc. etc.) - which we all know doesn't work.

Problem is my vehicle won't reset when I go through the shenanigans and it even says "oil service reset" at the end of that process, and then bingo: "Service required" at start up. I think it's a known problem. I don't really care because, like you, Im not following the interval anyway, and this way I don't get service reminders which are way out of my intervals!

@gmfain How does your Launch CRP 909 work for you? I've run into the issue of not being able to reset the "Service due in X miles" message on the dash after countless attempts at resetting using the gas/brake reset.
