Td6 Misfuelling Reset Tool Location
Today I learned that you could run out of fuel if you pull up to a service station and you go to put fuel in your Disco and the nozzle won't go into the fueling hole. I've been to this station 100 times and used this particular pump 100 times and never has this ever happened, but today it did. I left embarrassed and without fuel and now I have about 6 miles to empty. Immediately Google'd this issue and found out that this is some type of brilliant device that the geniuses at JLR decided would keep stupid people from putting gas in their diesel Disco called the Diesel Misfuelling Detection Device. Yay.
So, after learning what the problem is, I learned that I should have a yellow tool to reset this device. Does anyone here know where the tool is usually stored?

Interesting. My pre-owned came with a white tube, which I found in the glovebox, but I think that''s for filling up from a jerry can?
I had this happen to me once, I drove a few miles down the road to another station and the flap had reset all by itself. I didn't have to do anything, and I refilled successfully.

Ok, so I was wondering why I couldn't find any video or specific information about the reset tool for a Discovery 5 and that's because it changed in 2017. It now has the black trigger at the bottom of the hole and the problem was that the station I normally use had maintenance done and the technician installed a gasoline nozzle on the diesel handle and I simply didn't notice that it was thinner. There's honestly such little difference in size that it's easy to overlook. BUT, after a trip to the dealer and our normal service person came out with "the reset tool" which turned out to be the DEF funnel, we noticed that when he inserted the funnel in the hole, it was pressing down on the black plastic piece of the hole and would allow it to open. So, for anyone here that experiences this, just know that there's no locking device that has to be reset on a Discovery 5, just have the right size nozzle. If you pull up to a pump and it's not the right size, you can use the DEF funnel as an insert because it's the perfect size to disable the misfuelling flap.
