I normally take mine to a local shop and they tightened the oil cover on so tight I couldn't get it to budge with channel lock pliers. I need to know what size socket to place on the top of it to get that thing off. Secondly anyone know where to buy on in the event this goes sideways and I destroy something? I changed my oil but currently on the same filter till I can get it off and it has about 10k miles on it. Not exactly urgent but wouldn't hurt to go ahead and do it.

 

32mm is the socket size

 

32mm. Don't go looking for a 32mm socket at the auto parts store or you'll spend a fortune. I found one in the oil filter tool section for less than half the price of the ones in the sockets and extensions section.
