Default Terrain Response Auto?

Hello new to Land Rover brand. I pick up my 2017 HSE this week. I been looking online an see vehicles with auto and some without. I also see that Land Rover says that 2017 Discovery come with Terrain Response 2 standard. My question is some show auto and some do not. Are they all terrain response 2? Mine has a two speed transfer case open rear end but doesn’t show auto in the terrain response dial. Are they still all terrain response 2? And how effective are Discovery without locking rear end? I know I won’t be crossing any jungles but do occasionally take my vehicles off-road.

Thanks,
Fish

As long as you have the 2 speed transfer case that is good enough. That and decent tires are a large part of it. Terrain response has been great across all models for a while now, at least 10 years. Whether or not you have auto mode, the modes are the same, you're not missing out if you don't have it. 99% of the time the normal driving mode works fine.

I have a LR3 with no rear locker and it does great. Smooth and steady on the gas let the system do it's thing and walk through.

Thank you for the responses. I was hoping that was the case as they are very capable machines.

No worries, biggest thing to remember is let the system work don't try to think for it.
