Mine has started making something similar to this in more recent times, but it really only comes about during a tight turn, ie right turn on a smaller street to a smaller street. essentially, feels like multiple small thunks when the tires are turning at a larger delta of speed. I don't get the thunks when starting from a start when straight or mostly straight.

Had the disco out on some pretty decent trails and I think i had that same noise when i was on a decently steep incline (30* or so) with a bunch of loose shale rock below me. Was struggling a little bit for traction there, and not sure if there was a mechanical "malfunction" that was preventing it from giving better traction.

Please specify whether you have a rear electronic diff. I pulled the fuse for that and the thumping is completely gone.
theres a service bulletin for this issue which calls for flushing the rear diff with two oil changes. Allegedly the oil becomes contaminated with clutch material.

Thanks for sharing. Per the maintenance schedule, it looks like i'll be due for the 64K mile interval to change both the rear locking diff and transfer case fluids.
I'm guessing that's something a good indy shop can handle.

I have the rear diff... with a service bulletin out there should this be a warranty fix?

Quite easy to do it yourself if you are so inclined. Front diff too. Crack the fill plug first to make sure you can get it out before draining. You need a small hand pump that goes on the fluid bottle and some tubing from pump to fill hole. Use proper fluid. I have posted shop manual instructions previously on this forum.

I am taking mine in to the dealer next week for the left front window crunchies (I am assuming a bad regulator) so I will also bring up the thumping and see what they say. With only 24,000 miles I would hope this is a warranty issue. I will update on the thread as I have more information.

Glad I'm not the only one. I have the same sound, mostly after sitting overnight or most of the day. Always at low speed. 2018 Land Rover Discovery HSE TD6 with rear locking diff.

Does anyone have the ability to post the service bulletin here (or at least a reference number)?

Default Thumping noise

I have 2018 TDV6 Disco5 just clicked over 50000km. .. i have already replaced the diff, obviously the car is out of warranty so i had to go with so called recondition 2nd hand diff from a dealer.. i had no noise for about a week after replacement... the noise had returned on the second diff not as often ( 2nd hand diff not so reconditioned).
As the first one same issue from stop start or from a sharp turn not fully gearder down.. landrovers are known for this issue.. alot torque. Diffs cant handle.. the clutch plates are bad quality and also getting a like burning clutch smell within the cabin.. going back to the dealer to replikate the issue i think its more then just the diff.. but will see..

Anyone find a solution to this? Seems like the IID tool can solve this without having to take it into a dealer or having to flush the system: https://www.disco5forums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=4782

Wondering if this works.
