Tire choice
Going with a 275 55/20 and I'm trying to make up my mind on tires. 90% of its life will be on-road but I will be taking it to the beach to fish most weekends in summer so sand would be my biggest off-road concern. I want the 275 width over OEM for extra float as the sand is very soft where I go and usually air down to 15-17 psi. I have a set of Michelin defender ltx m/s2 on my pickup and they are an unbelievable tire in the wet and for ride and handling. They are pretty quiet also. Should I stick with them as they seem to check all the boxes or is there something else. The Scorpion all terrain plus are on the shortlist.

I have heard goof things about the M Defender, I use the "20'" Bizzack tires for snow. I have to admit...I wouldn't mind leaving them on, the seem to handle as well as the stock tires and ride very nice as well. They are soft tread so they will wear quicker otherwise I would leave them on all year

Also the MAX PSI rating is too low at 44 PSI for the standard Load index of 113. I would not use these tires. If you never tow, they might be OK. But even a light trailer will exceed the tires ratings at the corrected PSI. Normal load PSI for the D5 are Front - 44psi Rear - 50 psi, light load PSI Front - 34, Rear - 37. These are cold ratings, so once the tires heat up, you will exceed the MAX PSI of the Pirelli tires. Note the light load setting is a comfort setting and really should not be used for normal driving. Just because the tires fit, or someone else has used them, does not mean they "should" be used at all. These tires are designed for a much lighter SUV, more so a crossover.
I went with the Cooper Discover AYT3 XLT 275/55r20 XL.
I have always had good luck with Cooper tires, and these re getting really good reviews. Both for on road manners and off road ability.
Their wet and snow rating do help as well.
Are these 275/55R20 installed without lift rods? Thanks!
