Default Tires Choices for D5 w/out Air Suspension

Just got a nail in the sidewall of one of my tires. I’ve got the original Pirelli 255/55/20s with about 24,000 miles on them. My shop is telling me they have about 4/10 of tread left which would translate to around 7,000 miles left…currently will replace for around $350/tire.

My two questions are this:

1. Can I go up to the 275/55/20 tires that are recommended around this site? Assuming most of those are recommended for the air rides and not sure if I might have clearance issues with the coil springs.

2. should I replace all four?

As an OCD person, I hate the idea of having tires with different levels of wear - and if I replace one now I’ll be saddled with buying three more mediocre tires in about 6 months. But I hate the idea of not squeezing every ounce out of the tires, especially considering that I bought this car CPO 4 months ago and feel that I should be getting much more life out of these things.

Assuming I do replace all four and the 275s will fit - what have been the more popular selections here? I’ve had Nitto TGs on previous Jeeps and like the look but not sure I need something quite as aggressive. Would be going for the rugged look with hopefully minimal compromise on longevity and ride quality this time around.

CPO has a min tread requirement. I'm surprised that after 4 months you are down to 4/32nds (or is it 4mm) remaining. Unless you did a lot of miles?

If it were me I'd replace all 4. I try not to run all the way to bare.... And you can often get a cash discount (Eg $100) when you buy a set of four.

Why do you want to change tire size? What's the objective? I run the stock size you have and are v pleased with them.

I went with stock size Toyo AT3s, for the 3/4 inch gained width the additional benefit didn't outweigh the cost adder.

I want something a bit beefier than the stock tires that were on the car and there seem to be more options at the 275 level. I went with the Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus 275/55r20. Should be picking it up today and will report back once I take it for a spin.

I am a bit perturbed that I’m already replacing these tires. I bought the vehicle with 17,000 miles and am a hare over 23,000. I feel like I should be compensated, although my experience with the dealership and LRNA on a prior issue has me feeling like I’m not going to get anywhere and it’s not even worth the time. They have been truly awful and I’m not sure I have the time to fight this one, especially since they do technically have another 7,000ish thousands miles left of life and I’m choosing to replace them now.
