What does Build Date mean?
Hi, So I finalized my order of a new Discovery back on 2/12/18
The build date my dealer gave me has these dates:
Last Amendment Possible: 2/7/18 (yes five days before I have the go ahead and three days after the printout was produced)
Build Date: 3/16/18
Delivery Date: 4/20/18
Accepted Handover: 4/25/18
Planned Handovver: 4/25/18
Customer Handover:
So what happens on 3/16 ? Do they start building or is it done on that day?
Looks like it arrives in a US Port on 4/20 The ocean part alone is 12 days I would guess. Plus getting it loaded with others back in UK customs etc. It must be at the port in the UK by April 1ish .
Anyway, all that really matters is the day I get it but I am curious about the whole process if anyone has any experience or insight.

Thanks.
It will be nice to know it is done even though it has a long way to travel.
Now that I think about it, cars are the original assembly line product so I guess it only takes a day or two to build it anyway?

It was built on 3/16. Spent some time at the port in the UK.
Arrived in Baltimore on Monday 4/2.
I was told it takes about a week to leave Baltimore, customs, port installed options etc.
I am not sure if it goes on a train or truck from there but I imagine it would be a train for most of the way to Boston then a car carrier truck to the dealer.
