Default WiFi Hotspot

Hey guys,

I’m curious to know how and if anyone is using the built in WiFi Hotspot with a SIM card.

From looking at things online it seems that if I get a SIM card from some provider (Verizon, AT&T, etc), we can use the WiFi Hotspot to stream movies, etc. in the Disco.

Anyone doing this? If so, how did you set it up and what service do you use? How well does it work?

I have an unlimited data plan from AT&T in my Volvo XC90 and it works great, kids can stream Netflix etc while in the car, no need for RSE.

We just set ours up. Have them add the current sim to your plan. Dealer told me DO NOT replace SIM. There should be a SIM card cutout card in your glove with identity number for SIM.

Go into settings, turn on hotspot, it will show a code, use this on your phone or tablet to sync.

I wasn't able to add it onto my my unlimited AT&T account for $10/mo like you could with a family share account, so added data cost me $20/mo. Looks like you can start and stop it monthly though, so might just use it in months with long trips.

That’s sucks. We got ours added under unlimited family plan for $10 a month.

anyways. It’s pretty cool to have your own mobile hot spot.

Even at $20/mo it is worth it. I have my phones connect to it when in teh car so whatever I am doing goes through it and not my Verizon plan. Also kiddo can watch netflix all he wants. I also use Deezer 90% of the time - I know that is not through the wireless hotspot but it does go through my monthly plan.

Do you have a 2017 or 18/19? I just can't see using 3G to stream and hotspot, whereas the newer 18/19 has 4G. Just wondering if you are using the 4G for this or it is working out with the 3G.

It is a 2018. I had 3g at first without streaming issues. It is now 4g and still no streaming issues.
Had a 2017 FPace with 3g and no issues.

Did you have to do anything to change from 3g to 4g?
