Default wind noise

I have a 19 Td6 HSE LUX. For the last few months I have been hearing a loud noise "howling" at highway speeds (usually over 70mph). Seems to come from the right side of the vehicle. All of the door seals look OK. Anybody else experience this?

In my ‘17 HSE, I’ve noticed something like this. Same spot. I wouldn’t say it’s a howling. Mine is barely audible but there. I changed the air to recirculate, and that seems to help. Maybe there’s a vent that doesn’t close all the way.

Same here, right side. I figure it’s the sunroof but does seem to change when the hvac vents aren’t blowing hard, now that you mention it.

Given the reports of some D5s having water leaks by the windshield due to poor sealant application at the factory you may want to look into that. There may be an air leak that with enough pressure can cause noises and adjusting the cabin pressure offsets it.

At least I’m not the only one. It’s definitely coming from an upper part of the vehicle. I will check the sunroof seals and look at the windshield. I tried putting the air on recirc and that didn’t do anything. I haven’t had any obvious windshield leaks. It’s just an annoyance now, and not bothersome enough to make a dedicated trip to the dealer for it since they’re 45min away.

You can always put some blue painters tape on the seems of the windshield on the outside for a test drive.
Had a wind noise issue on another vehicle in the past and that found the isuue. Had the windshield reinstalled and the problem went away.

Since we finally had a nice sunny day here in Michigan, I was able to investigate more. I think it’s the sunroof. The weatherstripping on the right side isn’t quite as straight as the left. I left it open for a while to see if it “decompresses” a bit. I also put some silicone on it. We’ll see if it solves the problem.

YES!! I am not crazy!
I have been noticing a wind noise/whistling coming from the right side as well!
Of course the dealer couldn't "duplicate it" I notice it around 50 mph +. Can't tell if it's from the sunroof or window....

Fiddling with the sunroof gasket didn’t help. It still makes the noise. I still hear it when I tilt the sunroof open, which points away from that being the problem. It really seems like it’s one of the doors, as it’s worse if there’s a strong cross wind.
