"New" '98 Range Rover HSE
Hi. I'm about 98% of the way done with purchasing a '98 Range Rover HSE 4.6 and should complete the purchase by this weekend. I drove the car last night and will return to drive it again today and see it in the daytime. It has 86k miles, new brakes and rotors, oil changes done every 3k, even pollen filters were changed in the last year. Car seems to be cared for very well. Only concern is that he has done it all himself and hasn't taken it to a dealer. I'm planning on driving the car primarily in the winter due to the tough weather we have up here in the Detroit area. I've got a '97 Porsche Boxster as my summer car so I shouldn't put to many miles on this one per year. Well, that's about it for me. Any insight or hints would be appreciated. I know from reading various forums that the big concerns on this car is fluid leaks and air suspension problems, neither of which are evident thus far.
Read my technical info pages at www.eurotekapg.com to get a good primer on what to look for on this vehicle. I've always told folks not to buy a Land Rover without service records, but if this guy has documented everything he has done ---this qualifies. The big thing is whether the 60K major service was done. PM me if you want to know what this entails. Shortcuts there have implications down the road.
