1997 Discovery
Had a car stolen and found a 1997 D1 for sale and got it. It had a fair amount of issues but I think that's the charm with it. I like to repair things and feel good getting it back on the road looking good.
Welcome. In my signature you wil find the links to free download of the "RAVE", the factory set of tech manuals and owner manuals. In our tech section you will find many DIY repair procedures written up. Pay attention to the high miles service list. Do not trust the temperature gauge, above 50% is starting to overheat. Look at an Ultra Gauge which can display live data, plus read and reset codes from the OBDII diagnostics port. The 97 (I have one, 183K) has lots of things to lube underneath (swivels, drive shafts, U joints, differentials, transfer case, etc.). If you come out clean you missed something. With the age on a 97 many can use a good radiator hot flush and rod out by an indy rad shop. The radiator is copper / brass and expensive. Many owners go back with a $10 180F thermostat. I run 180 - 183F on the highway.
That stinks someone stole your car. The positive is now you have a Rover! I have had mine a week now and love it. Its the best truck I ever owned (2004 SE7). Download the free service manual its a great resource. Have fun with your new ride!!!
