Default 2004 Discovery mods advice needed

I took over ownership of daughters Disco 2. I really like the vehicle but can't decide if I want to sink a bunch of money in it to get it ready for serious off road activities. 98k miles, no rust, good motor and trans everything works other than the anti theft system seems to disable the engine on rare occasions. I think for about $3 k or so in mods it would make a pretty good off road rig but. Another option is to get rid of it and get an old jeep but everybody has a jeep. I would greatly appreciate if someone would talk me into keeping the Discovery. Thanks

I say "keep the discovery" and be different. Jeep's are a dime-a-dozen.

Both vehicles will require some sort of mechanical ability on your end, so that's a wash.

Personally, I enjoy driving this discovery of mine...about ten times more than the jeep I'd owned.

Good luck, with your decision.

Brian.

Thanks Brian. I do love driving the thing. The visibility is amazing. One of my daughter's friends calls it the Popemobile.

That's funny, our niece calls my wife's 03 the "Kardashian car"...her's has the 18 inch wheels...so it looks kind of "whooptie"...lol. I perfer the 16 inch, myself.

One nice feature that the 04 has, is the locking CDL. Adds for better off-roading capabilities. You'd be surprised, throw in a little 2 or 3 inch lift, better shocks and some aggressive tires...lock in the CDL...and you can go through quite a bit. Throw in a winch...and the "quite a bit" becomes "a lot more".

Have funny building your rig and post some pictures. You could also start a build thread in the build forum.

Brian.
