99 Disco
Hi
I just acquired a 97 Disco 1 with 199,000 on the clock, for FREE! Well, I gave a friend some money to get back on his feet and he is doing well now so he gave me his DD when he bought an LR3.
Not afraid of working on a project like this, just new to Land Rover. My daily driver is a 1990 Porsche 928 so tackling repairs is no big deal.
Any specific advice for a newbie to the world of Land Rover?

Noob special of the day, the whole set of factory shop and owner's manuals - called the RAVE, at link below. 99 was a split year, so on the back it may say Discovery Series II (the more features and some would say more things to fix). But the download has manuals and wiring diagrams for both. And be sure to read our tech section, has lists of high miles things that need checking, DIY repair methods with pix. No matter which one, don't let temp gauge get over 9:00 without investigation. If it is a D2, pay particular attention to the front propshaft rebuild, can split and spear tranny. At least you should have accurate service records.
Post questions early and often in the section devoted to the vehicle and you'll get plenty of interest and opinions.
