Default Been reading for a long time...thought I'd introduce myself

Been reading up on rovers (d2's) and am trying to find the right one. I've been a jeep guy (yes, I know the opinions of jeeps here) but am wanting something a bit more luxurious while still having supreme off road ability. I've got the mechanical ability as I've helped my dad rebuild four aircraft that we still fly (or are being flown by people we know). I've got the time to work on it and I've got the money to do so as well. My only question however, is the ownership experience (aka driving it when it's working) worth the headache that maintaining these vehicles causes? I realize that is very subjective and I'm primarily interested in the reasons why people think it IS worth owning. I've read plenty why it's not.

Thanks!

P.s. my wife and I live in denver, Colorado.

Yes, it is worth it. Welcome to Chaos Manor.... Much of the headache is dealing with damage or problems from deferred and missed services by previous owners.

It's not so much the cost, it's more the vehicle itself. It will go anywhere a Jeep can go, if not further (Rubicon with lockers excluded though) and it will do it with style. I love my D2 and wouldn't trade it for the world, there is just something different about Land Rovers. I drove a Wrangler back in college and it just isn't the same as driving my Land Rover.

The cost itself isn't that bad if you do the wrenching yourself and there is plenty guys on this forum more than willing to help you with any questions you might have and point you to where you can get parts.

Joining a local LR club is extremely helpful, too!
