Default Colorado new guy

Just bought my first Rover, a 98' Disco. Being a recovering Land Cruiser addict, this is not my first 4x.

My new to me Disco is bone stock, 120k miles and in good condition. I'm going to do all of the fluids and filters this weekend. She needs a set of tires before the snow starts falling. The ignition switch is a mess, I plan on doing the mod in the Disco 1 tech section to try and avoid paying $650 for a new switch. I will start suspension mods as my limited budget allows.

My family lives in the mountains above Denver, CO. We plan on using our new toy for frequent back country exploring and limited winter commuting.

We did our first off road adventure with the truck yesterday evening - Slaughterhouse Gulch.

So how did you and Slaughter House get along?
If you are going to start servicing your truck today, look at my major service list posted in the top of the D1 sticky.
Let me know if you have any questions and enjoy your truck.

Slaughter house went well. Coming from leaf sprung Cruiser's and an FJ80, I'm impressed how well the disco flexes and rides of road. We did not do the entire loop, the Disco is still too new to me to trust it, especially with three young kids in the car. The ignition switch is a mess, I'm paranoid it is not going to start. I can walk to my house from anywhere on Slaughterhouse, but better safe then sorry.

Unseasonably warm in the hills today. I'm headed out to start my maintenance this afternoon. I did look at your service list, it is a great help, I'm pretty much following it.
