Angry Diamond in the rough?

Newbie here.

Won the winning bid on a Gen 1 97 Disco about 2 months ago and still trying to get it to pass California's smog test for emission...Arrrrgh. I have been wanting a Disco since I first laid eyes on one over 20 years ago and finally able to afford one, from an auction no less. I've been reading a few of the threads here and just about every problem that has been listed, I think I have or will have in the near future. But that won't deter me or force me to leave it by the Mexican border with the keys in the ignition or at least not yet!!

I will be reading, responding, repairing, replacing, praying and thanking those who offer their support, which I know I will so desperately need. Although I am not afraid to tackle any mechanical issues, (with the right tools and step-by-step instructions), I also know when to call in the big guns when it is beyond my level of expertise or if I think I will cause a bonfire. Yikes!!

Thanks in advance for all help offered and guidance needed.

Welcome and good luck to you and your 'new' Rover - it sounds like you're in the right place. There are a lot of helpful folks on this forum and it sounds as if you have what it takes to get it done.

California eh? Planning a trip 3 years out to celebrate my 50th with my childhood friend in California. If you have any suggestions I'd love for you to pass them along. We're thinking the Bay area. Thelma/Louise/Girls gone wild kinda thing without the whole cliff scene
