Default Finally :-)

Looking forward to this adventure! I now own a 2002 Discovery 2 SE7 and I must say I'm a little nervous lol. I passed on an older Jeep Wrangler to get this beauty! I'll post a pic soon.

Nice to meet everyone!

Welcome!!
Go ahead and start out with opening up the radiator cap to see what color the coolant is. If Orange then drain that crap out ASAP. Hook up a garden hose and start flushing out the radiator from the top hose. Make sure you unhook the bottom hose so you don't flush the engine. Then get a three gallons (or more) of distilled water and get rid of the regular tap water. Change it over to GREEN peak.
LOOK at the front drive shaft too. Does it have 1 grease fitting or 3? It needs 3.
Thats for starters. Also, get the ultra gauge because the temp sensors on these have 3 levels. A) Cold B) Normal C) TOASTING YOUR BLOCK There is no in between. NO JOKE.
Ultra gauges also clear codes. See link: UltraGauge Automotive Information Center and OBDII Scan Tool
Download all the manuals known as RAVE.

I will continue to search and read up on dex-cool but I would love a little clarification on this stuff: is it destructive no matter what or is ok IF properly maintained including scheduled changes? I'm getting work done by a LR indy shop (great rep) and specifically asked about the dex-cool and they said it was the correct stuff to use. Since I have seen dex-cool supported on other fora and since these guys know a lot more than me I wasn't about to argue. But I did ask!
