Default Finally! Have a Land Rover!!

Good Day to everyone. My name is Lee and I live in MS. I just purchased an '04 Vienna Green Discovery with 132,000 miles. It is a one owner car with full service records with tan leather interior. I also have a 6 month, 7500 mile warranty. I am in LOVE with this car! I have loved Land Rover's since seeing them in movies as a kid going through the Sahara and other exotic locales.

So far the only things I have done are replaced the E-brake and 4 wheel drive boot covers, ordered OEM rubber floor mats, got a Chrome LR trailer hitch and new drink cup inserts as my car has none. Future mods... time will tell!!

Welcome aboard! Check out the sticky on the maintenance items to check out, especially check the front drive shaft and replace with a new shaft with greaseable u-jounts or have it rebuilt with greaseable u-joints.

Get some time in behind the wheel on some mild trails with others who know off-roading and learn and enjoy!

Default Front drive shaft question

Thanks for the welcome Tony! Quick question about your recomendation to change out my front drive shaft as soon as possible; is this a pre-caution for any Discovery owner? Or just ones that intend on using their 4 wheel drive? There is a good chance I might not ever use my 4 wheel drive, and if I do, it will only be once in a while, so do you still suggest switching out the drive shaft? How much does this procedure cost, using a local qualified?

Drive shaft is a must, off road or not. It is not "switched off". See write up in our tech area about rebuilding front prop shaft. This part does not come stock with grease fittings, so when they dry out bad things happen with little warning.
