Greetings from East Africa
Hi all.
I grew up around classic Range Rovers and Disco's and now is the time for me to start a new adventure with one of my own.
I'm looking to learn and where possible chip with some good contributions to the group.

Yes, welcome. If you are in the process of buying a disco, the first thing to check is error codes-if you find ignition, emission or EVAP codes, be ready for a major investment in parts. Check the age and condition of all the fluids (especially the coolant) and of course the overall mileage. On the Disco Bosch engines, the head gaskets become an issue around 70-100 miles, so beware of that. Check the ACE and power steering fluid lines and reservoir.
Check the rear suspension compressor and the physical condition of the rear shock air bladders. My driver's side went soon after i bought my Disco 2 and I replace the air system with a TerraFirma coil and shock system.
One final note. If you see ANY cracks in the lower corners of the windscreen and if they look discoloured or opaque, there might be rust. Open the hood and check under the windscreen frame for any flakes or soft spots. If you find this, walk away and find another Disco 2 - the rust repairs are not worth the effort.
Thanks,
Greg
