Greetings from No Calif.
Hello everyone, I am new here and recently picked up a 2004 Discovery SE. I am reading as much as possible and finding mixed reviews (this site & elsewhere) about durability and reliability. I like to wrench on my own toys and can see why someone could spend a lot of money at a dealer and be put off by the product.
I bought a 1 owner, stock vehicle with 74K on the odometer but I intend to build a dependable off-roader for camping, hunting, fishing, and exploring. I hope it's possible, I really like the Discovery. So far, what I have read here, everyone seems friendly and helpful.
I'd also like to meet anyone in the Sacramento-to-Tahoe area for mutual assitance and outings. Give me a shout.

Congrats! Good luck with your Disco! I know that you'll really like it.. Some advice... you should do your oil changes very frequently! When you do your oil changes.. use "engine restore 8 cylinder" or something similar to that stuff for your Rover... That'll keep your vehicle run like a champ MUCH longer! You probably already knew all that stuff... but just a reminder I guess.
