Hey everyone! New to the forum, but not to LR. Will be purchasing a new "toy" within the month and looking for some advice. Have had 2 Disco II's, an 02 and 03 previously. Looking to spend around 5k... Am considering another Disco or a P38 RR. Any feedback or advice? This will be a basic vehicle, around town driving and some mild wheeling once in a while. Thanks for the advice and input!

i'd personally go with the disco. i don't particularly like the P38 body style and they have a lot more electronic gadgets and gizmos to go wrong with them.
my sister lives in Indio. with the heat out there make sure you check it's cooling system!

I would go with a Disco. Either the 04 or 99-mid 01 so you can add a cdl linkage if you wanted to improve the wheeling. With 5k you should be able to get the nicest 01 disco's out there with low miles! Be patience!

 

And add an Ultra Gauge (UltraGauge Automotive Information Center and OBDII Scan Tool) to keep an eagle eye on the coolant temp. Last time I was in Palm Springs it was only 93F - at 4:00AM in the morning!
