Default Hello from a 1st time owner of a Freelander :)

Hello everyone. I am really looking forward to chatting to other Land Rover owners. I am from the U.K originally, and now living in Canada. In the U.K I drove anything that wasn't British, and now I am in Canada I was excited to purchase a British car,lol.... I have recently purchased a 2003 Freelander SE3 Bright yellow and drives great. She has a few glitches but I am up to the challenge of searching this entire forum for the answers

Thanks justryan I got it for a steal of a deal with brand new rubber. I wasn't really looking but looked at the right time, I realized what I purchased after paying $30 for an oil filter at the local parts store. I wont make that mistake again, lol. I guess its a small price to pay for an expensive hobby

just remember one thing is the life .... " To each comes his Own " some people may never want a freelander , because they didn't know 'how to maintain it " don't fix it , if it ain't broken ...change your oil and filters as necessary , check /adjust your brake system from time to time ( hand brake adjustment ) love and care for it ( wash it ) and you will be fine .. that's basically it ....i have seen too many people who got scammed ... buy original LR parts ( OEM ) ONLY..as much as you can , and you will be ok ... btw did you try the accelerator trick with the cold start ?

I tried the pedal trick...I think I did it correctly. Ignition to 2nd position, fully depress the throttle slowly for five time, turn ignition off and restart. Nothing changed, with regards to the RPM (still a little high) showing 1700RMP

no what i meant was 5 seconds after you start it while engine is running , hit the pedal , with your foot , and it will lower the RPM ..

Oh Sorry. Yes I did try that and nothing changed. The thing that puzzles me is that it really doesn't sound like it is idling at 2000. its fairly quiet. If I rev my other car to 2000 rpm it is fairly noisy. I am begining to think that maybe my tach is out of whack, because it drives and runs great apart from the Tach saying 2000 RPM
