Hello. Don't own a Land Rover yet, but looking for one for my 17 YO daughter. Started out looking at a Defender, but have moved off of that to a Discovery, likely a 2004 Discovery SE/HSE. Look forward to plumbing the depths of knowledge on the site. I did have one initial question-is there an "easy" or "straightforward" way to ascertain a decent LR (or someone that's familiar with LRs) shop in a particular city that could do a real pre-purchase inspection?

Welcome neighbor. You can give "The Shop" a call and see if they can help you out. They are located in Norcross. I had them reset the baselines on my ECU a few years back and they took good care of me. They are good people.
