Welcome aboard from Virginia!! I assume you are out west by your member name. These are great vehicles, only had my '01 Discovery 2 for 2 1/2 years now, but have learned a lot. There is some good material to read up on in the forum. I read a lot and copy parts to my D2 Notes file I have created on my PC. Often the things I learn are not related to current problems I am having, but 4-5 times now I have had problems and based on my reading had a pretty good idea what was going on when things began to happen.

Another good reason to do advanced reading/learning, is that in certain situations there are things you should not do, as if you do you will make the problem worse and more costly. And, there are preventive actions you should do for safety and to minimize $$ for repairs if a certain problem arises, like replacing the front drive shaft ASAP. This needs to be one of the first things you read up on. If it goes out is can take out the transmission, which while not cheap on any car, are very expensive on the D2. Also, transmission fluid change as well to maintain the transmission.

If you will put your model Rover and mileage in your signature, it really helps when people are trying to help with problems. Many of the problems are pretty mileage specific, and you will be amazed how right on top of problems many of the members here are. They have helped me a lot.

Do take a look at the Sticky Section, where there are some good preventative things you should check on your D2, to head off problems.

Enjoy the forum and learn your way around, especially practice using the search which has some options that can make it more specific, and you may want to learn how to post pictures as well, before you really need to. Providing pictures is a great way to get the best feedback on what my be going on with your D2 when you have a problem.

Good to have you aboard.
