Default Hello from Mexico

Hello, I'm about 100 miles south of Mazatlan. I was just given a 95 discovery with 90,000 miles on it and a new paint job. It also has a couple thousand worth of new parts but it won't start. I'm a retired mechanic who likes a challenge. I found this sight and am on my way to locating the problem. Been getting lots of good suggestions.

Hola, Check if you have spark at the plugs, then see if you have fuel supply- simply checked by removing a plug after trying to start the engine and smelling it, if there is fuel present it should be wet. Then, get back to us with the result.

Hello, I've been going through the fuel system one component at a time. I do have spark. I have a wiring diagram and have been checking the relaus. The fuel pump relay isn't getting the ground signal from the ECU. When I supply the ground the fuel pump builds pressure as far as the fuel log. When I check the pressure at the schrade valve there's plenty of fuel. I haven't had time but I want to check the fuel injectorrs to see if they are getting a signal to open. I'll pull the plugs out and check for fuel. I noticed on the wiring diagram that the ECU has a ground connection somewhere. In the diagram they list the ,ECU pins B40/5, B40/14, and B40/40 , as going directly to a grounding point (I assume the chasis). This car has some rust from being near the ocean. I plan to clean up all of the ground connections. I also removed the ECU because the outside had some corrosion. The inside had some small signs of corrosion which I cleaned up. Just out of curiosity, do you have any idea what an ECU costs or if they have rebuilt or good after market ones? Thanks for the helpful response. I'll keep you informed. When I'm not working on the Land Rover. I have a 10 acre tropical fruit farm that takes up a lot of my time.

yum 10 acres of tropical fruit! ECU replacements are like $500. you might be able to get one from someone parting a vehicle alot cheaper though.
