So give us the low-down on some South-African kit. Are you in Capetown? Johannesburg?

What's the general reputation of Alu-cab in Capetown? Is this a good shop, too expensive, a rip-off? What do you think? If you wanted a custom draw system or something like that would you go there?

How about Eezi-awn vesus Hannibal? They're both local. What do locals think of those respective brands? How would you compare them?

Are Takla seat covers good or overpriced?

What other good kit comes out of South Africa?

Thank you Wreckdriver!

Binvanna, I'm in Betty's Bay, which is about an hour and a half from Cape Town.

Alu-cab has a really good reputation here in South Africa. They are expensive, however their products are good quality. I think the reason their prices are high is because everything there is custom. I've seen a lot of their work and it is very good.

My wife and I have recently started a small Land Rover Defender accessories business. Our dream was to buy a Land Rover (which we did last year) and do a overland trip through Africa - Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwi, Tanzania, Kenya, Malawi and all those places. The cost of equipping our Land Rover was so high, I began designing my own parts, and I thought it would be nice to sell to others who can't really afford high priced accessories. Right now we only have bash plates (steering guards), but I'm working on the design for a drawer system and also checkerplate, if you'd like to take a look: http://www.stoneaccessories.yolasite.com

Both Eezi-awn and Hannibal are very well known and used here. Both qualities are good.

I'll do a bit of research about Takla seat covers and let you know.

There are so many good products here for Land Rovers!

Thank you! John
