I am personally new to the concept of owning a Land Rover, but have had some experience working on them. I have family and friends that have Rovers. I am looking at a few different Discoveries and I'm waiting to find the right one!

 

Budget for a pre-purchase inspection by an indy shop if you are not a pro techician - lots of things can be missed; plan on maybe $1,000 - 2,000 in repairs early on in the ownership period. The RAVE is the name Rover gave the shop manuals set, it contains the owner manuals as well. Common to Rovers is prior ownership by persons who became fiscally challenged during the last few years, and maintenace of the Rover was delayed.

A search tool is www.stateseek.com - which indexes all of craigslist by state, you put in Rover and your price range, etc. Groups it by cities, so you don't have to drive to the other end of Egypt.
