Hey new Discovery 2 Owner!
Hi new to the whole Land Rover cloud, just realized how much work these things need. My dad about a month ago just purchased a 2003 Discovery 2 with a blown differential. I replaced the differential and while i was under the vehicle saw the most leaks ive ever seen. Replaced all the gaskets and cleaned the engine bay but the work never ends. Ive been lurking the forum using very useful information to go about the repairs and boy there are more to come.
Welcome. Hope you have downloaded the RAVE, the factory shop manuals set. The front diveshaft needs to be rebuilt or replaced. The oem one has sealed joints on one end, they dry out, it snaps, and pokes hole in tranny. he otehr thing you and Dad should be aware of is that the heat gauge points at 50% all the time from 130F to 240F. A scanner or $70 Ultra Gauge can point to exact temps, plus read and reset codes, etc.
