Wow what have I been doing for all these years without a defender. Never been my pin up car but after being snowed in for six weeks I took the plunge.

7 a.m. this morning truck rolls up with my new Defender 90 XS. The dealer as an extra had also thrown in blue tooth (which I can't live without), tow ball and uprated carpets.

It came straight out through four foot snow drifts. Wow! Straight to the coal merchant LOL. Now we can even go food shopping or meet Tesco at the top of our lane.

What a difference a quality 4x4 makes. My wifes A3 Quattro had no chance of making it through.

I have even played out and got it dirty! Not bad for a guy who normally wears a suit to work. LOL..............

My second job was to call the dealer and ask what diff lock does. I know, no doubt I will pick it up quickly.

Still not sure of the best settings for snow. Is it just low ratio low revs and hope for the best?
